Congratulations to Aseel Abu Aleil, Aseel Alshaar and Noor Alarada

The 14-year-old girls who took the prize for a prototype walking cane for the blind that "beeps" to alert the user of drop-offs and obstacles. The girls were the first Palestinians to participate in Intel's international youth science fair.
"Unlike other electronic canes that send an infrared signal forward, the girls' invention has a 'seeing' sensor below that beeps when the surface changes, such as near stairs, holes or water, up to 30 inches away," the UN report said.
Below are only a handful of messages MAP have received and will be forwarding to the girls:
-Many congratulations on winning this award. You are a credit to your family and your people. Well done.

Dear Aseel, Aseel and Noor I want to congratulate each of you for your fantastic achievement in the science competition. It is even more amazing that you have achieved this in such challenging circumstances. Well-done to you all. With my love and best wishes CatherineMAP supporter from Inverness, Scotland - currently working as a doctor in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north east of England.
Well done indeed to the three of you. I was really bad at science at school- my experiments would always go wrong and I cannot do maths at all. One of my physics teachers wanted to throw me off his course, but said he liked having me in the class, as I showed people how NOT to do science. So I have great respect for anyone who can do it! Congratulations on this prize and keep up the good work.deryn collins, Cordoba, Spain

Dearest Aseel, Noor, and Aseel,We have never met, but when I read that you won an award after competing with 1500 finalists from around the world, I wanted to send you a message of respect, congratulation, and love. Well done- many people are proud of you. Let's all hope that one day, everyone will understand and no longer need to fight each other. Stephanie
Please pass this message to the three budding scientists.
"Many congratulations on your award. Studying under the conditions that you endure must be very difficult, so you should be even more proud of yourselves.
Please remember, as you get older, that science is neither for war nor for peace - its uses depend on what the scientists allow to be released about what they have discovered, and what the politicians do with the discoveries. So please try to ensure that whatever you do in future is for the sake of peace, and that the politicians do not use your work for the sake of war.
