MAP provides emergency aid to flood-hit families in Gaza

On Thursday our team in Gaza reported that winter storms and flooding had displaced 100 families in the southern city of Rafah. With reconstruction stagnant – due in large part to Israel’s restrictions on the entry of building materials into the territory – many of these people are exposed to the full force of this winter weather, living in temporary shelters, rented accommodation, or amongst the rubble of their former homes.

So far we’ve responded to the needs of the families worst-affected by flooding by distributing pre-positioned emergency supplies. With our emergency aid partner, the Yabous Society, we have distributed 192 mattresses, 192 blankets, and 96 hygiene kits to those in need. These provisions will ensure these families can stay warm and mitigate health risks until they can return to their homes.

We would like to say a big thank you to our supporters, whose kind donations enable us to respond immediately when crises like this hit some of the most vulnerable Palestinians.
