Disability
MAP aims to achieve increased social inclusion for disabled people and to mainstream assistance to the disabled. Working closely with local communities, MAP is working to increase the quality, number and effectiveness of medical and health professionals trained to provide appropriate, inclusive care for the disabled and to support the provision of the necessary facilities and technical aids.
The Home Care programme, for example, is a community-based rehabilitation scheme supporting physically disabled people in Gaza through
- home adaptation
- the provision of medical equipment
- the provision of technical aids such as wheelchairs and crutches
The programme is supported by a public awareness campaign that seeks to inform the community of its work through health sessions and educational materials.
