30 March 2009
Three crossing points between Israel and the Gaza Strip were opened Monday to allow 160 truckloads of goods into the area, as well as unknown amounts of industrial diesel and cooking gas.
For the first time in weeks the Kerem Shalom, Karni and Nahal Oz crossings were open simultaneously for the passage of humanitarian and commercial goods.
The Palestinian coordinator for Gaza crossings Raed Fattuh said 115 truckloads will enter through Kerem Shalom including 34 for UNRWA and international aid organizations, 68 others will ship frozen meat, dairy products, soap, shampoo, flour, sugar, rice, salt and blankets to the commercial sector and 13 truckloads will ship fruits to the agricultural private sector. At Karni 25 trucks of wheat and animal fodder will pass through on the conveyor belts.
For his part, deputy of the gas station owners union Mahmoud Al-Khizindar confirmed the Nahal Oz terminal for the transfer of fuels would be open, though he was unable to affirm the amount set to be transferred.
